UPDATE – Board reacts to the latest situation surrounding the COVID-19 virus

Like the entire football community, the North Geelong Warriors FC is deeply concerned about the impact of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) on the entire Australian community as well as how it will impact on football around Victoria and Australia.

All decisions made by the club will be guided by two things:

  1. Advice from the Australian and Victorian governments; and
  2. Advice from Football Federation Australia (and FV) which has now been received and will be implemented across the Clubs.

Based on advice from FFA earlier today, football can continue.

By adhering to the FFA guidelines, the Warriors will ensure that it acts in line with the best possible advice and takes the most sensible and balanced approach.

The Warriors will ensure that as football continues through this period, all attached FFA guidelines will be followed and the following measures will be adopted:

  • All NPL programs and matches will continue in line with FFA guidelines;
  • All NPL junior programs and matches will continue in line with FFA guidelines; and
  • All non-NPL programs (for example, Metro, women’s, MiniRoos and community) will be limited to one training session per week until further notice.

These directives are changing at a rapid pace – so it is impossible to provide ongoing advice on the myriad of impacts – other than to continue to share government, FFA and FV advice with you.

For the avoidance of doubt, any and all players or parents who have been in contact with the Coronavirus should not attend any events, in line with government direction.
