NEWS – Warriors to travel to Lions for big Junior NPL ‘local derby’ on Sunday

NORTH Geelong’s Junior NPL Boys’ teams will make the short trek to nearby Norlane to take on Geelong SC in Sunday’s ‘Geelong Derby’ at Stead Park.

It will signal the start of a hectic week for the Young Warriors, who will play three league games within the space of seven days.

The U13s will kick off proceedings on Sunday when their clash with the youngest Lions commences at 10:00am, before the U14s and U15s do battle simultaneously at 11:30am on pitches #1 and #2 respectively.

The culmination of the day will see the North U16s do battle with their U16 counterparts from Geelong at 1:00pm on the main pitch.

With both teams yet to register a win, this clash takes on monumental significance in the wider scheme of the entire season.

Next Saturday, the Warriors will play host to Altona Magic at Elcho Park, while the following day Avondale FC will come to Elcho Park in the second game of the long weekend double header.

The Labour Day Festa will also be held at Elcho Park next Sunday with the Junior NPL games being just one of many sporting, cultural and culinary attractions taking place on the day.
