NEWS – Important information regarding the 2020 MiniRoos and Community Junior programs

WITH the start of the 2020 MiniRoos and Community Junior season fast approaching, we are getting eager to get the new season under way and the Club is getting closer to securing training grounds so we can get the various squads up and running.

In the meantime, below is some important information about where we are at the current moment…

Communication

  • General information that applies to all families will be communicated via email (mini-roos@hotmail.com)
  • Team specific details (training, games etc) will be communicated via coaches or team managers at start of season (platform will be decided by individual teams, e.g. text, group chats, team app etc)
  • Social media will be a big part of 2020 for NGWFC and all aspects of the club – so if you haven’t already, start following us on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter!

Teams and Coaches

We are close to finalising teams and have met with coaches this week to finalise all the details. Once coaches receive their team’s final contact details, we will ask them to make direct contact with families.

Training Grounds:

  • As per 2019, our main training ground will be Hurst Reserve in Herne Hill (Douglass St) with 2 training sessions a week. Please note U7s might only train once a week.
  • Training days, times and venue may vary between ages groups based on coaches’ availability.
  • We officially get access from 1st April, however we are currently in talks with City of Greater Geelong to get access as early as March…. hopefully this will be confirmed early next week!
  • Elcho Park is currently not available as a regular training ground for Mini-Roos/Juniors due to ground upgrades and use by Senior Men and Womens and NPL teams.
  • We will host a welcome training session for all teams at Elcho Park in early March (date to confirmed)

2020 Season Dates (as per FV calendar):

These are dates as provided by FV calendar, however the fixture is currently not available (and won’t be until close to starting dates). We will communicate start dates closer to April and provide link to fixtures once available

  • U7s & U9s girls and boys commence 26 April
  • U11s – U17s girls and boys 18 or 19 April (U12s and U14s girls will be playing Saturdays)

FV player registration and final payments

  • We will be sending out an email with details on how to register your child via Football Victoria system (this is a requirement for all players to complete to be able to play)
  • Along with above FV registration information, we will send details about final payments which will need to be paid directly to the club.
  • Look out for email coming your way very soon and keep in mind you will have 14 days to complete the registration and payment.

Micro-Roos’ program (U5s)

  • We will be offering the Micro-Roos (U5s) program again in 2020 which is designed as an introduction football program for our younger players or those new to the game and wanting to learn the game.
  • The program is open to girls and boys and generally 4-6yrs old and is a weekly training session (details of day and venue to be confirmed)
  • If you have any younger children who are interested or have any family or friends, please email us with your interest providing child’s name, age and contact details.
