North Geelong Warriors

Girl’s skills and women’s coaching recruits at NGWFC

Over the last five weeks North Geelong Warriors has run a Girls Skills Program focused on foundation skills.

The program led by the club’s outgoing Football Director Josip Zilic was also built around recruiting potential coaches from the Women’s First and Reserve team.

It proved to be a large success with U9, U11 and U14 local sides experiencing the leadership of Luisa Kump, Maya Popplewell, Anna Zanic, Liv Ortiz, Jasmine Zilic, Kristina Luburic and Sienna Wrench.

The group of coaches will receive the support of the club and State Government’s Change our Game fund to undertake coaching credentials to continue their path further into coaching as well as some handy equipment to keep themselves organised for sessions.

“It’s always a pleasure to be out on the pitch having the privilege of educating young players, but to be able to increase that benefit and have up and coming coaches from within our club come along and undertake a series of sessions for their own development ices the cake in book” commented Josip.

We thank the players, their families and our Women’s team players for investing their time in the program, we sincerely hope this leads to bigger and better things for all concerned and a warm thanks to the State Government’s Change Our Game initiative for supporting us in delivering the program.

We look forward to the next one not too far away.
