North Geelong Warriors FC is delighted to announce that Michael Anderson, Anthony Banovac and Ryan Oppermann have all committed to the club for another season.
This will be Anderson’s 10th season wearing a Warriors shirt and he’s eager to make it a big one. “I’m proud and excited to be part of this club as we go into another huge season together both on and off the field.”
“The last few season there has been a constant progression to become better as an individual, a team and more broadly as a North Geelong Community. This has brought a real buzz around the place, helped by the forever loud North Fans, that we are creating something really special.”
Banovac comes back off a stellar 2019 which saw him take out the clubs Best and Fairest, as well as the Players’ Player award. Making his way through our junior system, this will be the centre-backs 18th year as a Warrior.
“I’m very excited to commit to the club for another season. With the league restructure, a massive challenge awaits but with the support of the coaching staff, committee and supporters, we are ready for a massive 2020!” Banovac said.
Securing the services of midfielder Ryan Oppermann for 2020 is also another huge coup for the club. The 2018 Best and Fairest winner and 2019 Runner Up Best and Fairest has been a key figure of our senior side since joining in 2018.
“I am excited to continue my journey as a North player.” Oppermann said.
“The relationship between myself and the club has been nothing but positive, so I’m beyond happy to commit to 2020. I’m looking forward to help lead this club in 2020 and hopefully we can go one step further in getting promoted.”
“I’m really looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. Now that the core group has been together for 2 years, I think it’s time for us to build a strong case for promotion. I am also looking forward to working with Zeljko and Beggs and we’ll hopefully create a strong cohesiveness.”
“It’s going to be an exciting year down at North, so I urge as many fans and supporters to come down and enjoy the atmosphere and hopefully us boys will put on a show.”
