6 Club Hall of Fame members to feature in Labour Day Friendly

On Sunday 10 March the North Geelong Warriors GRFC team will tackle the club’s Masters team as part of the Warriors Family Day celebrations.

The Masters team will feature the likes of club legends Josip Skoko, Joey Didulica, Ante Deak, Mijo Trupkovic, Adrian Cervinski and current president John Didulica.

Skoko, who played 51 times for the Socceroos, made a name for himself at Elcho Park before plying his trade in Europe. Skoko played for Wigan and Stoke in the English Premier League as well as captaining Genk to a Belgian title. He also played for Hajduk Split and was part of Melbourne Heart’s inaugural team.

Skoko returned to the Warriors a few years ago and is actively involved at the club, coaching juniors, being involved in football operations and is even known to sweep the club’s dance hall!

Joey Didulica featured four times for the Croatian national team. He also played for Melbourne Knights and Austria Vienna before working as a goalkeeping coach at Melbourne City.

Didulica and Skoko came across each other at the 2006 World Cup. Both were unused substitutes as the Socceroos drew 2-2 with Croatia to make it through to the Round of 16.

The likes of Cervinski and John Didulica also featured in the old NSL.

It promises to be a fun day out for a club who’s stocks continue to rise. The senior men’s NPL2 team are one of the hot favourites for promotion this season, with a team full of youth products and Geelong raised players.
